Executive Bios

Tim Brown, CEO

Tim received his PhD from the University of Utah in 2006 for field research and computational modeling of army ant swarming. Tim’s primary research focus is on developing camera systems and other near remote sensing tools for ecological research, resource management and environmental monitoring. Most recently, Tim was the lead developer of the Gigavision camera, a weatherproof, multi-billion pixel resolution time-lapse camera system for landscape ecology applications (http://www.gigavision.org). The Gigavision camera enables collection of plant life-cycle data (phenology) from every plant in a landscape at five million times the resolution of conventional satellite products such as MODIS.

Christopher Zimmermann, CTO

Christopher is an entrepreneur with 15 years of professional software and web design experience. He received a B.S. degree in Physics at Wesleyan University in 1995. He has architected and built a wide range of sophisticated applications including a video e-commerce system, an online user interface for a turnkey email/voicemail/fax communication server, and an online pollution emissions reporting system which integrates with point-of-sale purchase data from gas stations. His most recent work with TimeScience is the TimeCam online time-lapse system which archives millions of images from hundreds of Internet connected cameras and serves the images as time-lapse in an embeddable website player.
